In Colombia a very special week is coming up called "La Semana Santa" or The Holy Week. This week is very important to every person in Colombia, is sacred. Also in this week there are many tourist that bring money to the country, so the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Luis Guillermo Plata had a brilliant idea. Since he knows that many people attend this event, he wants to make sure that everyone including the tourist will be safe. He stated “Este corto descanso de Semana Santa, lo aprovechamos los colombianos para vivir nuestras tradiciones religiosas, reunirnos en familia o simplemente descansar," which translates to "This short brake of The Holy Week, we Colombians take advantage to live our religious traditions, reunite with family or just a simple break." After he said that he stated that because of those reasons he will have schedule routes around the country so passengers will travel in comfort and securely. Of the nation's capital will fly to 12 Popayan, Manizales, Villavicencio, Santa Marta, Socorro, Prado (Tolima), San Augustine, Tunja, Villa de Leyva-Chiquinquirá-Ráquira, Girardot, Filandia (Quindío) and Cartago (Valle del Cauca).
Also scheduled routes between cities such as Pasto-Popayan, Bucaramanga-Socorro, Ibague-Prado, Medellín, Popayán, Sincelejo-Mompox, Manizales, Santa Rosa de Cabal, Pereira, Medellin, Bucaramanga-Cabo de la Vela, Medellin-Covenas. Mompox, Medellín-Puerto Nare, Sincelejo-Mompox, Valledupar-Riohacha, tour the volcano Galeras,-Paraguachón Monteria, Neiva-Florencia, Cali-Lago Calima, Cali-Buenaventura, Arauca-Chia and Bucaramanga-Zipaquirá.
The roads were defined by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, in coordination with the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Transport, Armed Forces, the Highway Police, the National Roads Institute and the National Institute of Concessions.
